How do you re-stick the Tool Options menu to the toolbox? I work at the library only (no computer at home), and it reboots itself and solves my problem every time I get a new session. But in the mean time I get stuck with a loose menu that hides and gets itself behind the toolbox.  I think I am trying to click and drag something on the menu, maybe widen it, but it detaches itself and gets behind the toolbox.
I'm sure the best answer is "don't do that", but there are a lot of distractions here and it just seems to keep happening.

Also the program sometimes shuts down when I am trying to copy to a new GIMP document from on I'm working on. This might be the library not updating every time GIMP puts out an update, and there is a way around it by copying to  IE Paint from the current GIMP doc, then copying from Paint to new GIMP doc, but a little time consuming.

Thanks.

To restick it, click on the tool that has hidden itself - the top bar - and drag it back to the empty space that is left at the bottom of the toolbox.

So simple. Thanks. I kinda drive myself crazy with this. :D

I've been trying to fix that since the last Gimp upgrade! I had an entry like this from May 2006 carefully saved in Memories, but it didn't work any more, because the design had changed and the key element had vanished. So now I'll save this new version, and hope they don't change that bit any further.

Eh, that didn't work. The only thing is that once in the last month or so, I did click on the right thing to re-dock it. But it was an accident also, so I don't remember what did the trick. I might do some looking around on the 'net to figure it out, if I get some time. Grr, arg.

What made the difference for me this time was that I kept my cursor firmly on the Tools Options bit (circled in red below) to drag the dockable dialogue into the space. I think I was moving it around from another point before, because under the previous design I seem to remember that the key element was to attach it to a particular bit of the main box which has now disappeared, so I was focused on that rather than which bit of the dockable box I was dragging.

Anyway, I finally managed to reattach it after months trying, so I'm not going to risk detaching it again to check!

*is relieved* Okay I tried that and that was it. I was very shy of clicking on that icon just to see what it would do, so no wonder I couldn't figure it.

Thanks so much. ;)

If any of the menus get un-docked and you don't want it docked, you should be able to close it and make a new one which will be docked by default. Click the "Add Tab" button and select it again and it will add the tab as again.
